HTML Design and Rendering Tactics for Improved Email Deliverability and Increased Response
You already know that there are many factors, such as reputation, list hygiene, bounce rates, and server configuration, that impact your email deliverability. But did you know that the way emails are designed can also affect it as most spam filters include design-based rules? If you are not following best practices for HTML design and rendering, your messages could look like spam to the ISPs and, therefore, may be delivered to your recipients' junk mail folders or be blocked all together.
Even if the messages make it to the inbox they will be ignored, deleted, or reported as spam if they do not render correctly or if they contain broken images and links. How an email looks is as important as what it says so you must do everything you can to ensure your emails are received intact.
We have put together the following white paper discussing HTML design and rendering best practices, including design tips for different email clients, guidelines for rich media and forms, and testing HTML content via seed lists and third-party rendering services. This white paper will also address many of the myths surrounding images in email so you have the knowledge you need to create strategic, successful email campaigns. It also includes an HTML Checklist to make it easy for your designers to follow the best practices discussed in this paper.
To make sure that your HTML email looks its best in all possible email clients, have your designers follow these guidelines and best practices.

2008 Email Marketing Days
We've been getting a lot of questions on our 2008 Email Marketing Days conference. Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions. If you have other questions, please contact Megan Ouellet at mouellet@listrak.com or 717.627.4528 x321.
What is the Listrak Certification Course?
We're offering our customers an intensive two-day training course that covers everything they need to know to become a certified expert on the Listrak solution. Topics include configuration settings, list management, profiling and segmentation, content management, design elements, reporting and analytics, advanced performance testing, and advanced features. This track is only open to customers as it is Listrak-specific and you need a basic understanding of our solution in order to participate. Participants will gain the knowledge they need to run successful campaigns, streamline design time, increase deliverability, and improve response. Even though this track is only open to customers, the other two session tracks and the one-to-one sessions are open to every attendee.
How do I sign up for a one-to-one session?
We are encouraging attendees to bring samples of their campaigns with them for individual analysis. We're offering 30 minute one-to-one sessions in the areas of deliverability, dynamic content, design and creative, integration, and support. To schedule a session, you must first register for the conference. You will receive a follow up email with additional information for attendees, including one-to-one session registration. You may sign up for more than one session but space is limited so if you're interested in participating, send your requests in soon.
Why is the conference in Philadelphia and not in Orlando, Las Vegas, or another popular conference city?
We looked into a number of locations but we wanted to choose a city that is centrally located and easy to get to for the majority of our customers in order to keep the travel costs as low as possible. We also wanted to keep the focus of the event on the opportunity to meet and network with industry leaders and each other. Participants will truly learn in this environment, which is casual and fun, yet it encourages interaction. The Loews hotel is on 12th and Market Streets in the heart of Philadelphia just a block away from City Hall. It is a beautiful, historic city and there are plenty of activities you can take advantage of, such as the Eagles home opener against the Rams or shopping in Old City.
Do you offer group discounts if our company sends more than one person?
We are dedicated to educating direct marketers on email marketing best practices and, therefore, we have already discounted the tickets by 60% in order to make it easy for everyone to attend without worrying about budget constraints. Participants may register for only $499 through July 31 or $599 after that if seats are still available.
I already read your white papers and listen to your webinars – will I get additional information from your conference?
YES!!! 2008 Email Marketing Days is your opportunity to meet and learn from leaders in the email marketing industry. Although it is a Listrak event, we have scheduled the most influential and exciting lineup of speakers, including David Daniels from JupiterResearch, Justin Weiss from the Digital Policy Group, Chad White from the eec, Melissa Campanelli from eM+C magazine, Austin Bliss from FreshAddress, Ken Takahashi from Return Path, Ray Everett-Church from Habeas, and many others. Visit our web site for a complete list of speakers and sessions.
