While not technically an ISP, Outblaze provides a mix of free and pay-for web-based email services for several thousand domains, the largest of which include Excite and Mail.com. Their total number of subscribers amounts to at least 30 million mailboxes
Outblaze has made no secret of their belief that their mail services are for personal use—not commercial use. To this end, they are very aggressive in how they filter incoming mail. They have very little tolerance for commercial email, regardless of permission level or relationship. Outblaze uses two main methods to conduct their anti-SPAM efforts.
They filter email against external domain name block lists (see table to the right) and also run their own local block list of known / potential SPAM source IPs and net blocks, known as the OBSL (OutBlaze Spammers List).
It has been our experience that if your mailing IP add-
ress or domain name is added to any one of the OBSL blacklists, chances are high that you will encounter deliverability problems at Outblaze. If you find your mailing IP address or domain name listed on any of the named blacklists you will want to work with the respective blacklist contact to request removal.
